Why we exist
The Parktonian Foundation exists to offer expert support in fundraising, management, Alumni relations, marketing, and the fostering of philanthropic values for the benefit of Parktown Boys’ High School.

secure Parktown Boys’ status as a leading educational institution which continues to develop South Africa’s leaders of tomorrow by raising and providing supplementary funding continue to build an Old Boys network that supports our alumni in their careers, hopes, dreams and friendships.
To one day see Parktown as the school of choice for boys across South Africa, producing leaders whose values, character and intellect can inspire a better future for all South Africans .
Why the role of the Foundation is important
SA education is in crisis and it is critical for schools like Parktown, Jeppe, Kes and Pretoria Boys and others to survive and thrive and continue to provide a holistic education.
Produce young men with the ability, character and determination to become leaders of tomorrow.
How do we intend to achieve this?
Sustaining the high quality of education and heritage provided by Parktown cannot be achieved through school fees and government subsidies alone – supplemental external funding is vital.
We require Old Boys to be more involved and become ambassadors.
We will establish a broad network and draw on the support of the Old Boys to ensure that the proud legacy of Parktown continues.
Funds to be applied to capital projects, bursaries and to supplement wages of teaching and coaching staff.
Prospectus
Our top 5 priorities for the next 2-3 years
Endowment 100
- Raising a R100m endowment that will be managed by Investec.
- The trustees view the endowment as critical vehicle in ensuring the long term (50 years +) sustainability of the school.
Digital learning environment
- Invest in modernizing the learning environment, which requires the upgrading of all 38 classes, including Labs. The total cost of which is R8m.
- This ensures that PBHS remains ahead of the curve from a digital learning perspective.
The Hockey Astro Turf Facility
- Resurfacing the main hockey astro turf.
- Improving the entire facility for both players and spectators by creating better viewing spaces and the dug-out.
Boarding Refurbishment
- A refurbishment of the original boaring house to raise the standard in line with the new one.
- The Boarding House is a vital part to ensuring the school maintains its ranking as a top boys school in SA.
Creation of a Cultural Center
- Parktown has always been a well balanced school that promotes the Arts and Drama equally alongside Sport. The creation of this space will allow for an advancement into this key area of our boys educational journey.
Upgrade of the High Performance Sports center
- A refurbishment of the original Sports Center built in 2010 to allow more boys to train at the same time thereby improving the boys overall conditioning.
